Phelan’s Advice For Home Gardeners

Over the years, gardeners have come to us with many different kinds of questions.   What grows here?  When does a particular plant bloom?  What do I do about this spot in my lawn?  What type of houseplant will grow in low light?....

We’ve compiled answers to the most frequently asked questions in printable PDF links listed below.   Hard copies of these brochures are also available in our garden center.  The information given is a combination of what we’ve learned from 30+ years in the green industry, time spent in our own gardens, valuable customer input and, of course, research from the Colorado State University Extension Service.  The local Colorado State Extension of El Paso County (help desk is 719.520.7684), offers classes and information to help home gardeners and is a wonderful resource for gardeners in the Pikes Peak Region.

Plant Problems?

Here at Phelan Gardens we often have the plant knowledge you need to help save your ailing plants. It's as easy as 1-2-3-4-Out the Door! With some input from you, we will try our best to give you an informative and actionable diagnosis.  Here's what you need to do!

Step 1

Take a clipping of the affected areas or a representative sample of your ailing plant. The fresher the better! Plastic baggies are good for preservation. If you're really concerned about jeopardizing the health of the plant take a quality, closeup picture.

Step 2

Bring it in! We're located at 4955 Austin Bluffs Pkwy in Colorado Springs. We can sometimes help over the phone too. If you can't come to our store, our number is 719.574.8058.

Step 3

Answer the questions asked by our knowledgeable staff as they work to figure out what's going on and give you advice on how you might remedy the situation.

Step 4 - Out the Door!

Now you know what's going on! We're sure to have whatever you might need to fix the problem and in many cases we can offer natural/organic solutions as well.
